A New Friend
August 28, 2009
My friends from college, Earl and Danielle, just had a baby boy. You might remember them from an earlier post I did for the Ethiopia in Wilmington a few months back. I thought I would share a quick pic of this little guy. His name is Jamey and he sure is cute. He really liked his little home in the basket I set up for him. Sometimes you never know what the little ones will like. But, he seemed quite content.

More Product Images
August 28, 2009
I got a few more products in so I wanted to photograph them to show the variety in options and format for the products included in my wedding packages. I have really been enjoying these new proof boxes. They can be used to sit out on a table or they look really nice in a bookshelf disguised as a book. The custom designed wedding album can be seen on the Products page too, but this is a different design with different cover materials. I was so happy to finally get my studio sample in!

Fall Classes and Workshops
August 14, 2009
I’m a little late on this, but I wanted to let everyone know about some photography classes I will be teaching this Fall at Lenoir Community College. I have Photography I which is an introduction to photography fundamentals. It is all black and white, all film, all in the darkroom and all fun. I am also teaching Photography II as well. Photo I and II are MWF from 12-1:50. Digital Photography I covers a wide range of topics from Digital SLR cameras to image manipulation with Photoshop to scanning and printing with an inkjet printer. Digital Photography II is also offered. Digital classes are on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2-4:20. Classes start Monday, August 17th. You can register on Monday if you like!
I am also doing a Continuing Education course for Off Camera Lighting.

Class Description:
This course introduces the fundamentals of off-camera lighting. Topics of instruction will include exposure, equipment, and practical application involving the use of off-camera lighting. Upon completion students should be able to understand the fundamentals of off-camera lighting, which includes grasping exposure and use of equipment in practical application situations.
It will be great for those of you just getting your feet wet with off camera lighting. Off camera lighting is a wonderful way to expand you skill level. It will give you so many more options for making imagery, whether you are a conceptual photographer, portrait, or wedding photographer. We will start very basic and build from there.
Class Times and Location:
For lecture times, class will meet in Waller 134. The class may travel around campus and possibly around Kinston for practical application.
August 26th: 5-7:30pm
September 16th: 5-7:30pm
October 14th: 5-7:30pm (depending on lighting this time may change to 4:30-7)
November 11th: 4:30-7pm
Cost: $85 ($15 goes to model fees)

Enter in the information and your set! If you have any questions about the course or would like a more detailed outline of what we will be doing just email me at jsmixon06@aol.com. Jason + Tiffany

Jason and Tiffany had a beautiful wedding in Wilson a few weeks ago. I had lots of fun things and people to photograph. I want to thank them for letting me spend this time with them from their engagement to bridal portraits to the big day.

Greenville NC Strobist
August 5, 2009
Flickr is a great way to meet photographers and find lots of great imagery. It is also another way to share your work. I have started a group on Flickr for Greenville NC area Strobist users. I would love for it to be a group where we can share our flash techniques and a place to connect with other photographers. You don’t have to live in Greenville NC to be a member, just a flash photography user. So, check it out…there are two lonely members who would love some company. Click HERE to find us on flickr or use this link: http://www.flickr.com/groups/greenvillestrobist/. If you aren’t a flickr user you will have to sign up to join the group. I have really enjoyed being a flickr member, it has been a great resource!
Bethany
August 2, 2009
Nick and Bethany are married! I enjoyed photographing for the Vaughn and Sherrod family once again! So, now that Nick and Bethany are married I can share some of Bethany’s bridals portraits. I photographer Bethany back in April so I am happy to finally share them.
